The Making Of
Clicks approached us in early September 2024 with some urgency. They were preparing to launch their newest Clicks case with the release of iPhone 16 later that month, and previous production plans had fallen through. Time was of the essence! Clicks had done a lot of work on the creative brief already, so when we came onboard we took their vision and translated it into a production plan for a 60-90 second hero campaign with social cutdowns, lifestyle and product photography, and a 2 minute explainer-style video to be released alongside the campaign.
We engaged a photographer we love, David Pike, along with his team at The Co-Lab, to tackle the extensive photo deliverables, with two days shooting in studio and two days shooting stills on-location during our motion shoot. Capturing both motion and stills concurrently was the best way for us to get everything we needed on time and within budget, and although it required some masterful production scheduling, it worked out well.
Our crew was outstanding on this shoot. Director of Photography Nik Pilecki balanced the bold tones of the product and sets with cinematic "day in the life" scenes that feel realistic and look great. Our 20-person team was a well-oiled machine and incredibly fun to work with.
We worked with Alter Ego's Head of Colour, the award-winning colourist Wade Odlum, for colour correction perfection. Sound design was paramount for not only the pacing of the edit but for defining the brand aurally - the "click" sound of Clicks is synonymous with the product. We went to Dashen Naidoo at the Academy Award-winning firm Sound Dogs for sound design and mixing, and he knocked it out of the park.
We're very proud of this campaign, and can't wait to see what's in store for Clicks!
